Oil Leak Question
Okay.
Here's my spec.
T3 Super 60 Brand new turbo.
Oil feed from the side of the head (common spot) by using -4AN line
Oil return to the oil pan - no kinks or block. got a good gravitational flow by using -10AN line
Installed a week ago
Drives around town for 10 minutes for testing for the first time today aftere the turbo installation.
I only hit 2 psi just once and come back home.
when I opened the hood, the smoke was coming from the turbo area dropping oil from the bottom of the turbo (not like flowing oil, just one drop coming from the turbo and burning off.)
no visible sign of white bluish smoke from the tail pipe.
Questions:
1. Should I use -3AN instead of -4AN for the feed line?
2. Should i rebuild it with the rebuild kit?
3. Is the seal gone bad? (The turbo is brand new and used for less than 30 mins max)
4. any good ideas?

where on the turbo is it coming out of? where the housings are bolted on to the CHRA? compressor side? exhaust side?
how do you have your pcv/breather setup?
can you get us some pics? did you tighten up the bolts at all on either of the housings?
what brand is the turbo, and where did you get it from?
what is your oil pressure at the oil filter, or wherever you have it tapped at, at idle?

My PCV set up is:
PCV (I'm using barb fitting instead of PCV valve) and breather with T fitting----->catch can (small DIY homedepot catch can) -----> atmosphere.
But, it might cause the leak because the can is very small and line could be clogged up due to long sitting time (about two weeks)
Should i remove all lines and try?
I will try take some pictures of the leak location tomorrow.
leak is basically between the center turbine section and internal gate section.
Also between the turbine section and center housing section.
Basically, both side of the turbine housing have leaks.
This turbo is from Garrett and I got it from local shop. He had to order from his supplier for mine.
My oil pressure sender is in the sandwich plate, but my feeding is from the head.
the pressure is around 35-45 PSI when the car is fully warmed up at the sandwich plate.

T fitting connects both PCV and breather and goes into the catch can.
is -4AN is too large when you get the feed from the head?

If you havent done it yet...
put the pcv back to the stock settings. the breather line goes into the can and put a breather filter on the other side of of it.
also, use -4an with a restrictor, if not go for a -3an
This does sound like the same problem that Socks was having with the PVC setup. The way it works if you pressurize the head by improper routing of the lines the turbo can fill with oil just sitting at idle. How do I know cause I did it, and it took me a minute to figure out.
The seals on a turbo which is just a metal ring not the type of seal everyone thinks it is, is the easiest place for the oil to escape hence the reason it looks like the turbo is bad because the oil is leaking from there.

Ye, I run my PCV open, both of em at the moment, have been for quite a while with no issues (about 8-10k miles N/A, 1k turbo). Either I'd run them my way or make absolutely SURE your routing them so it doesn't get pressurized.
yeah, he was pulling a socks, i set it up the EXACT same way thinking i was routing it cleaner and everything, and then i started leaking some oil.. mine was coming from where the housings connected to the center section. i havent been having problems the past couple days, cept burning off all the oil i leaked during the time i was pressurizing the cover, STINKS and is uber embarassing.
