I was on my way home.

boosted up to 6-7 psi and suddenly the boost dropped. I thought it was the wastegate. a few minutes later, I tried to boost.

no boost at all.

I thought it was the coupler that popped out.

stopped the car and checked.

no disconnected couplers or anything.

omg, i figured that the turbo might be fried for some reason and stuck. (I'm using head oil source with -3AN ss line to T3 super 60).

However, the car runs well just like a stock car withouth the boost.

I came home and disconnected the compressor side intake and turn the engine on.

The compressor wheel spins well without any grinding noise or nothing.

I reved the car and the compressor wheel spins well.

All I did to the car this morning was:

1. thrned the knob on the BOV to the soft direction all the way until it stops turning and then turned it back to the opposite side a couple of times. i am still not sure how to setup the BOV properly.

2. Found a pinhole (0.5 mm diameter) that leaks exhaust gas constantly from the manifold turbo flange side.

Here's my question:

1. Why I don't have boost?

2. Can the pinhole on the manifold be enough to cause no boost problem?

3. Any other places that I have to look for?

4. Could it be the SMT6 extra injector controler problem?

I am not the right guy to give advise on turbo problems because I am not into FI, but have you checked all the couplers (dissasembled them)? You could have a leak not visible from the upper part; on the other side, are you sure you have "just" one leak from the manifold? I would think even that "tiny" hole could be reponsible for a lot of pressure drop, idk if all of the pressure, but A LOT.
If the turbo does not sound and revs freely, it shouldn't be a fried turbo.

ahhh.. hmmm..

heres what i want you to do.. go out side and rev the car, from the engine bay and see if the BOV is leaking.. it sounds like theres a vac. leak PRE IM thats letting all the air out so you cant build boost. can you hear air leaking when you accelerate?

turn the BOV back to where you had it, and try it again..

that pinhole sized hole on the exhaust side could cause some boost problems but should still let ya boost close to max pressure.

what are your gauge readings on your aux gauges when you are trying to boost.. whats your vacuum at, oil pressure, EGT, etc.

do you have a wideband? is it running lean and thats when you cant boost, does it feel like your hitting a wall and it wont accel?

i dont think its the injector control problem, because if it was, when your car went to boost, it would shoot lean right away and your car would wanna do a thing.

sometimes the coupler wil lslip just past the tube
so when looking at it it looks like it's hooked up ,but in fact it isn't and once boost kick in it leaks badly

i'd say it's minor, check the couplers and piping ;-)

The thing is that when I boost, i hear the typical turbo sound right? not the BOV sound. more like "shhhhhheet" sound. is this sound coming from the compressor or coming from the IC piping when the compressed air goes through?

But now i don't hear anything even though when I floor the gas.

it acts just like a N/A car. no feeling of hitting a wall or anything.

It still accelerates, but no boost.

When i floor the gas (WOT), my boost gauge is around "0"

my vacuum is at 20 inHg at idle

EGT: 800-900 at idle, 1200-1400 at around 70mph

well its leaking somewhere, so check for that....while its idling, spray some carb cleaner around the intake pipes and anywhere "vaccum" is...and wait a second or too and if u hear the idle go up you found the leak....possible the gauge is broken? theres no blow off at all??

Where is your MAF at?

If your running it pre turbo, then the car would run extremely bad if you blew a coupler/had leaks.

Are you running internal wastegate? Its kind of odd that your not hearing any turbo noise at all now (thats what I'm understanding, your not hearing any spool up, that right?).

It almosts seems to me that maybe the wastegate is getting stuck open when your under load, or stuck enough not to let the turbo boost up enough.

today i found that exhaust manifold flange area where the turbo flange and manifold flange are meet has a good amount of leak.

I'm using Tim's log style manifold, and the leak is coming from the bolt areas.

If I do WOT, I barely hear some spooling sound. barely

I guess it is due to the leak before the turbo at the manifold.

I'm running boosted MAF! cool.gif

and internal wastegate which is working well now.

that happen to me like 3-4 months ago. no boost but the car run like stock turbo still spinning but not creating boost problem was turbo blew due oil line got partly plugged.
solution new turbo =(

What were the symptoms when the turbo blew?

you said it was spinning right?

any metal grinding noise?

let me know.
