After reading up on dmdicks post about using a OEM Evolution manifold to be modified. It got me thinking. Why not use an older 420a or 4g63 manifold design and modify it for the turbo needs. Even an OBX manifold will surely flow nicer then the OEM design. Just find someone that can weld Aluminum well, throw on a new flange, weld on a spot for the IAC, and modofy the throttle body some.

Thoughts?

4G63 maybe, I doubt 420A. You will spend as much getting it rewelded and the IAC and that as getting a custom one made I would think though.

420a is actually the only one that will work right.. the 4g63 TB is on the other side of the intake..

it would prob cost about 100$ in welding and about 50$ in a flange.. not too much to get a TB to fit.. would cost significantly less than getting one made custom.

Link Fixed. Being that the 420 intake manifold is almost identical to our's in terms or runner diameters and measurement. I will be picking up a OBX knockoff, having access to a welder that can handle the load will be a plus as well. I'll just be reusing a OEM intake manifold flange I will hack up.

i would assume if you could weld aluminum you would be able to weld steel. but what i am getting at is that you wont be able to use the stock flange if the OBX manifold is sheet metal.

Thats true but the 420A is just a neon motor. I dont see that being anywhere close. But I guess Ive never really looked at one either.
