Im currently installing my turbo kit, and am messing with the new map sensor. I understand as much as that I need to bore my intake manifold and weld the sensor to it, and wire it correctly. The wiring is the problem. From this pic, I think that 3 of the 4 wires from my map goes to the box on the firewall. The last wire I dont really understand where should go. This is the picture I am using as referance :

And the blue hose undert the map, is that just something I dont need to think about, or is it something im missing?

Thx! fing02.gif

Huh... what about you give some information about your setup if you want some help? What's your car, what setup are you building? Help us help you out grumble.gif

You're wiring a MAP sensor for what? You're plugging the MAP to what, an SMT-6?

Don't you have a GM map sensor? In any case, there shouldn't be any reason to *solder* the sensor on the manifold. Why would you want to do that? Just screw it to the firewall, and run a vacuum hose to it from the manifold (the blue "wire" you're talking about).

If you're wiring for an SMT-6, you just plug the power and ground, and the other wire is the output of the sensor. Really simple.

Im not wiring for an SMT-6,

im using airbornes swap ecu. And if im not wrong, my current map wont understand boost.

So, thats why I have a new map, which looks like this :

the stock one I got is like the box on the picture, probably what u call the GM map sensor :

here is the picture of my instructions again, I saw the that the above link was wack :

im not plugging the map into anything, just using the original wires the go from the ecu ( correct? )
I was just gonna do as instructed, but would it be easier for me to get a GM map sensor and replace the one and not have to bore and solder the map into my intake?

Please help me out here, Im very confused. I found out that the blue hose on the picture is a hose for a gauge.

Anyone?

Well, I dont have to follow the picture if anyone has any other idea.

I got a complete turbo kit, and a new ecu from airborne. And that map sensor I have a picture of above. If anyone has a more simpel soloution I'd be glad to avoid boring in the intake. How have you other people on this forum solved the map issue? Or are all of you maf based?

^^^

Now correct me if i am wrong...

But most of the people on here are running dual fuel injector rail and the second injector rail is running with 460cc or higher injectors...plus it is running off of smt-6, emanage for example. And the second rail does not kick in until they hit boost.

I'm not sure whats going on there. They make map sensors that just mount on the firewall, you run a vacuum line to them and some wiring and thats it. No modifying the intake manifold.

My car is map based stock. Probably different because I live in Norway. But I got this new one and these instructions.. Maybe it would be easier to get one that is just like stock so I wouldent need to bore and stuff. Airborne, you reading this? Would be nice to get some input from you.

The ATS is the Air Temperature Sensor

There are 2 wires. One is a 5 volt source (which is the one you DON"T need)

You can test the voltage with a voltmeter and just splice the OTHER wire in according to the picture

You're better off boring the intake so you get better MAP readings, it shouldn't be too difficult

The blue hose is just for show. You don't need it unless you want to spice up your engine bay. There will be no signal coming from your old MAP sensor

Ok, great,

but from the picture, I dont get where the ATS is located. Is it the plugg thats connected into my AEM intake? The drawing is really not accurate here...

I just wanna be sure of this, so I dont mess up.

Is this the correct procedure :

I take the plug connected to my stock map, and pull out of the box. Then I cut of the connector, and splice 3 of the wires to my new map which is bored into my intake. Then the last wire goes to my ATS sensor, the ground one of the two wires on it. But could you show me a picture of my ATS, and how its done please? And as the picture says, dont use stock ats and map, just connect wire to wire. If I just use the negative of the 2 for the ATS, what do I do with the 5v source? Just terminate it?

If I understand this correctly, the new map will then function as a map and ats?

dang! the disapearing airborne posts, man whats going on? everyone was all excited about your ecu's and you vanished...

gthaman that sounds like the right solution, most of us here aren't familiar with stock map tibs since most states rdtibs are maf.
