you going to hold onto those cams Tyler? I'm local if you decide not to wink1.gif
Glad to hear the car is still going great. It sure was a beast at the meet.

Sorry guys, don't get on here very often anymore.
I put them in becuase I was curious why my power curve fell after 6k rpm. I personally think it was a fueling issue, but haven't yet ran it on a dyno again to figure out what the numbers are with the stockers and the re-mapped high boost/rpm fuel map which runs about 11-11.5 instead of below 10:1. I may put those cams back in and try them again but I am undecided. The car still pulls great, I get NO traction in 2nd anymore if I am at WOT, I need that diff if I am going to realize the full acceleration the car is capable of. If I sold them the price would be $650 since that is a bit less than I paid for them and I still have a slight want to hang onto them.
I recently put her back to stock and got through maryland emissions. When I put the turbo back on I re-inforced the front crossmember that the engine crossmember bolts to by welding some 1/4" wall 2" angle on the section that the engine bolts to to distribute the load more evenly (it kept cracking right there, probably from my solid stainless front engine mount lol. I also installed the FAL fan that 2UNIQ sold to me about 8 months ago lol.
Other than that and re-wrapping the damaged wrapped sections of the manifold I haven't done much to her recently. I think my next mod will be the quaife, but they are like 1250 now so maybe in a few months. Then I would love to build the bottom end and push 25-30 psi (prolly 20-25 on pump gas and then 30 on 100 octane or c16) I should add some meth injection if I get to that point, along with at least a 6 point cage.
Recently with the 40 or less degree temperatures outside I have pondered upping the boost to 18 pounds to see what happens. I will probably add a little more fuel and pull at least 1-2 degrees of timing if I risk that though.
Still beatin evo's and wrx's cool.gif .

I actually only put down 270 whp on a low reading dyno on a humid summer day.
Best time at the track so far is a 12.6@112.8 with a 2.0 60' on drag radials. The last time I went I blew apart the differential and cracked the transmission case, it sheared the ring and pinion gears too. So I am weary of going again without getting the quaife differential.
The car remains wicked fun to drive, I can't get enough of it. One day I suppose I will build the bottom end hehe, but for now its plenty fun for me.

15 psi surprisingly, I have since added some more timing and that has really woken the car up, I also threw the stock cams back in to get rid of some of the crazy NA cam overlap. I should theoretically be over 300 whp, especially with that turbo and stock compression. It doesn't burn much oil which tells me the rings are in decent condition for an 86k engine. I'll have to get it back on the dyno in the spring/summer and really tune it.

Well Ive been reading thru this topic and was jus wondering how much the stock pistons can handle with stock compression? I mean how many ponies? Maybe I missed something somewhere. Cuz I read that tim ran like ~430hp on stock rods and was jus curious how much the stock pistons could handle? Anyone have a guestimate? Cuz I think when Im done boosting I should be close to ~300hp and above hopefully. I also recall john ran ~300hp on a stock beta? Thanks if you would.

It's not really so much about how much horsepower you can put down, but how effectively you can transfer that power to the ground. TDonnell and JonGTR have put down some impressive numbers. Last time I talked to Tyler, he was running 15psi and has had no issues with the engine at all, but toasted two transmissions. I believe Jon's issue was clutches. I put down 472whp on a piston only long block. The rods can hold power. I ran my setup for almost two years before it went kaboom.
If you plan on daily driving the car, I would keep it around 250whp on a unopened engine. You have alot to think about, such size of turbocharger, volume of air being moved, tuning, weather, etc.
