Hey guys,

Sorry I've been outta the loop for so long. I recently graduated college and took a job in Raleigh, NC as a stock analyst/portfolio manager for an investment firm down here. This puts me an hour and a half away from my Dad's garage which makes working on the Tiburon a little bit more difficult, however I'll give you an update on how things are going.

121,000 miles now, turbocharged for 60,000 miles now. Stock clutch still holding and grabs. I'm running 22psi through the little turbo now, runs mid 13s on street tires all day long. SMT-6 for fuel management via a 580cc fifth injector (I'm about maxing out that injector, 6000rpm puts it at 80% duty cycle) and using a rigged old Unichip Fuel-Tuner as my MAP via the idea from Dmdicks. Compression still 203/202/205/208. Stock clutch has only slipped on me once recently several weeks ago playing around with a new V8 Mustang, hasn't done it again. It's been to the track and had several passes since then with no issues. Dyno was done @15psi if I remember right and it made 230whp then, dunno what it does now. I'm thoroughly surprised at the bullet-proof nature of this transmission/motor even more so than I was before.

I'm currently taking a day off Saturday to take a long look at the suspension - I have a velocity joint going out and god knows what else along with my rear brakes just being about shot, so I do need to take a trek back home to fix that and get it up and running. My goal with the car now is to just beat on it until it breaks something I don't find worth the time to fix (catastrophic transmission/engine failure most likely). A new/slightly used Genesis is hopefully in my future, or perhaps a used 370z/G35.

My only quirk with the car now is that after a few cold starts, the ECU starts being a pain and forces the car to run poorly - at 4000rpm and above at full throttle the car begins to miss and every once in a while this will cause a misfire. The car is at 11:8-1 A/F when this occurs - so its not fuel related. This start to running poorly (even if I don't floor it to where it'll miss I know when it switches over) is usually accompanied by a CEL - unfortunately my car stil won't let me read CELs. Any idea on what would cause this? Seems odd it does it during full throttle where the car should stick to the o2 sensor and thats it.

So let me get this straight. You mean to tell us that you are running 22psi on a small turbo, with stock engine, and stock clutch, and you are providing all the extra fuel using ONE 580cc injector?

Unless you are running some crazy fuel pressure, i call bsflag.gif
I have 440cc injectors (that's 780cc extra compared to stock) and i'm pretty sure they would max out at 14-15psi on stock fuel pressure.

Edit: oh, and as I understand this, there is no way in your setup to retard timing is there? 22psi on stock engine without pulling timing? uhm.. that's about as likely as stock clutch holding 22psi or santa getting me a new gto this christmas

you sure your running 22? Maybe the gauge isn't registering properly. My stock clutch with about 20k on it started slipping like mad at 12psi. (t3 super 60)

+1 to like +10 on the stock clutch. Have no idea how you are managing that

Radu hes got an smt, theres NO WAY of running 22psi without pulling timing, merely impossible.

And i actually talked to santa the other day, he said if you give me half your salary each month he'd think about it smile.gif

And it seems weird to me, Stock Motor+15psi=230hp with proper tune....?

It doesnt really add up, unless IC piping was super inefficient

Zach that turbo is a little bigger than my fist. Probably reaches max efficiency at like 3500-4000rpm. Numbers look right for the size of the turbo

He's using the Unichip for timing control, which will work perfectly.

ham? I'm still wondering about this stock clutch thing. Mine was doing good at about 10psi. When I bumped it up to 12 all was lost and I couldn't transfer any power to the ground.
