What do you guys think about this? How efficient would this kind of set up be in the real world?

I think a supercharger/turbo running off of a transmission is an awesome idea!!

Exhaust backpressure running the crankshaft is trying to create a perpetual motion machine. Useless, you'll always lose more than you gain with that setup. Running a turbine generates more power than it uses but running the crank would not.

Reminds me of this:

A twincharged (turbocharger and supercharger) setup has been used successfully many times before and it would be possible to package both components into one unit, or possibly spinning up the turbo with the crankshaft like a supercharger, but disengaging once exhaust gasses are freely spinning the turbo. This design doesn't seem all that elegant or well thought out, but it's hard to tell from the pictures and description.

It looks like compound turbocharging. They did a lot of that during world war II for the big bombers and fighter of the era ... double and tripled the output at high altitudes.

There have been tons of cars Compound charged and it does work out, just like this company states. Yet, obviously when a typical person would compound charge and run two unit, a Turbo and a S/C serperately. Not all in one unit, I dont see, there one unit setup working as effectively as a TRUE compoundly charged engine for the simple reason that theres seems to be one or the other, not one helping the other, and boost making boost at top end.

Also to add to the fun Facts, there are even cars that came from the FACTORY compoundly charged!!!
