Hey all.

I've been working to figure out a problem with the smt setup I've been running lately, and I've decided to just go ahead and dish out the cash to put my mind at rest that it's not the map sensor I've been trying to use. I have the PN for a GM 3 bar sensor, but every parts store here in town can't seem to find anything on it. Anybody know what cars a GM 3 bar came stock on or possibly a cross reference number the parts store can use? Unless I can tell them exactly what car it needs to go on, they can't really locate the part for me.

I'm trying to avoid buying online as I need the part ASAP. Trying to wrap this up today.
Thanks

I think I have one here that I dont need. Its just about brand new also. Not sure what its worth but PM me and ill try to find it.

Just saw you need it today. Im not sure what it came stock on. I would think with stock part number you should be able to find it no problem. If I had to guess Id say it came on the supercharged motors from the grand prix and bonnevilles. The 3.8s

I've read that it came on an 89 T/A that was turbo. When I told that to the guy in the store, he told me they could order it, but looked confused so I'm not sure if he knew what he was talking about. I KNOW that these stores have em, its just a matter of getting them the right number.

GM part numbers:

16040749 for the "old" version

12223861 for the "new" version

I guess they changed the part number at some point

yeah thats the one I finally found today. I figured out (already pm'ed you about it Denis) that these sensors were used on 1989 Pontiac T/A with a 3.6L V6 turbo in em. As far as I know, they're one of the few, if not the only GM car to come with these stock.

Anyways, for future reference, anyone trying to find one of these locally should have the part stores look up the sensor under "EC1678". It's made (or repackaged) by a company called BWD.

Here's a link:
BWD sensor link
Just type in the part number above and you'll find it.

Thanks for the help guys

So did you get it at a parts store or dealership? Cost?

ended up getting it at O'Reillys as they were the only ones to have it. Every place I called quoted me a different price, but I ended up paying $80 with taxes. It was a bit more than it'd be online, but I really needed it today, so I guess that's the price I pay. tongue.gif Any other time, I would have just bought it for like the $60 its commonly charged for online.

And it solved the problem I was having so it was worth it haha.

It's actually a 3.8L V6 Turbo. Same motor as the Grand National, which also uses a 3 Bar MAP.
