One more important step!
You need to balance the shaft after you put all the parts back together.
If the shaft is not balanced, it will destroy pretty much everything inside the turbo and even housings.
That's why most people have their turbo rebuilt by professionals.

you indeed have a benz style 5 bolt housing
it's a bit different then "standard" t3 but you can get flanges quite easily

Thanks guys. I'm still stuck though. This turbo came with my white RD2, with a big Spearco Intercooler, all piping, external wastegate, BOV, oil lines etc. It was never tuned on the car before I bought it. But everything needs to be prettied up a bit. The pipes for the I/C need to be sent to Jet Hot, same with the manifold, and whatever parts of the turbo that can be coated. Any help on that one?

My point is though, I'm not trying to make this my dream turbo setup or something, i just happen to have this setup from the car I bought. It all came off immediately so I could get the car back to stock for a Smog check so I could change the title over to my name. It was just a little bonus for picking up another Tiburon. But I just want to get a plan going, and I dont have a budget in mind. Basically, I want to get a price in my head, that I have to work for to accomplish. So I'm trying to decide on how this is going to look once installed, and what I'm going to use to tune it. So I'll toss out some thoughts, and you guys give me opinions on whatever you have input on.

JetHot Coating (price???)
Shop Turbo Rebuild (price???)
Tuning (E-manage, SAFC NEO, other piggyback?)

I just know this turbo wont live too long in the Black car because that is being built all the way up... eventually. Meanwhile I just want some boost for Time Attack so I can worry about other things like suspension and braking.

go with an SMT-6, dual rail, and dennisst's magic box.

It's a proven set-up that'll make life easy.

I can't help you with prices though. I wish I knew myself.

Wont the black box work with an E-manage also? If so, I can swing by Greddy, and show the project so they can direct me to a very experienced E-manage Tuner here in LA.

if you can tune with an e-manage I don't see why it wouldn't be hard to learn to do the same with an SMT-6...

for jet hot dont forget we have a discount. also a shop would be a couple hundred to rebuild the turbo i would think. as for the rest im not to sure. by me i dont have any shops that can help me out. youre in CA though so im sure you can find somewhere to take care of you. if you go by greddy, get them to sponsor you and hook us up with some parts!

Oh yeah, no problem on that, I'm sure they'll be soooo impressed with my busted ass RD2 I'll drive there, lol. Most people in the industry all but laugh at you when you tell them you're building an older hyundai. I think Greddy will likely blow me off, but in the process I'll find a good tuner.

if the e-manage has a grounded output based on boost then the box will work with it
if not then worst case,we could make one with a pressure switch instead of activating it with the smt-6

but still, i do like the smt-6 and turbo box combo ;-)
