So, I've been doing my fair share of searching this morning, and researching, and I think I might be boosting this summer. I'm thinking of going with the Garrett GT28R. Would this be a wise choice? I'm looking at around 250 horse. I'm still going to get my exhaust system, and pulleys, but then turbo. From what I hear the 28R is a quick spooling turbo, and it seems pretty stable. Anyone have a better suggestion?

 

there are TONS of different gt28r turbos. go to www.turbobygarrett.com to see them.

you have to learn how to read compressor maps. checkout topics i have created in the power adders forum and you will see what i mean. also a good qualitative comparison on gt28 turbos without the math involved for you to check out and consider.

 

Good deal. I was searching for things like "Turbo Size" "good turbo" and things like that. I'll check that out though.

 

if you can afford it man. all the parts are a matter of research and putting together but as you probably know you cannot avoid or deny high maintenance and problems.

keep in mind. gt28 turbos have a t25 turbine flange. the only available premade manifolds for us have t3 flanges.

not a hard fix but that is just one of the many intricacies you must make sure you have covered.

 

Which turbo would have a correct flange then? I want a fast spooling turbo, I've heard of hybrid turbos too. Anyone have experiences with them?

 

There are adapter plates to go from a t3 flange to a t25 style on eBay.

 

Boost with nitrous. When the tank runs out, get a refill. It's pretty low maintenance if you're a daily driver.
