the beta1 because of the amount of work it would take to put a 2 in a car that came with a 1.

^^what are you talking about? it doesnt take any work its a plug and play swap. get your facts right.

beta1 will hold up better to extreme HP applications but the beta2 is superior in the fact that it gets rid of those HLA for traditional valvetrain, it used alum oil pan with fins for better cooling, it also aesteticly looks better IMHO. and they are newer which means its more pleantiful if you need parts or spares.

Its not a plug and play setup, Get YOUR facts straight...lol. You would have to swap ALL the sensors from the Beta 1 to the Beta 2 and the intake manifold as well. Plus the beta 2 has a cast AL oil pan that mates up with the transmission so you either need the beta 2 tranny or swap the beta 1 oil pan on if it fits.

to mount the beta 2 pan on a beta 1 trans you just gotta grind off the little lip

also some of the beta 2s ive worked on also have a different thermostat housing

my old wagon had a beta 2 long block with a beta 1 transmission, took me a extra 2-3 hours to swap everything over but it was worth the lower mileage motor, cost wise expect a extra $50 bux or so to swap vs bolting in a beta 1 (intake gasket, thermostat gasket etc)
