Future turbo vs. SC for 2003 tib.
I'm still deciding to SC my tibby or wait for a turbo. Right now I'm leaning towards the Alpine SC kit, but the turbos are starting to intrigue me. Also, the turbos are hard to install and SC have contant boost (reasons is why I'm leaning towards the SC). I need comments and questions. I'm in the dark here.

Dude, you can set the turbo to kick in at a lower RPM mang, so you can set it to the level where you launch, and when you let off the clutch, it's allready pushin.
Turbo lag isn't as big a deal as you think, if you set your spin up low.

The Alpine SC has dyno'd over 200 WHP. HKS has a Alpine SC and is working on "upgrading" it and coming up with "upgrade parts" for it. With an AEM intake, and some other mods (not disclosed to me), they were able to get over 205 to the wheels. This is on the stock pulley and stock boost level.
They had to "stop" the upgrades at that point because they had out flowed both the fuel pump and the fuel injectors.
Alpine is working with them to address these, and other issues. There will be V6's with over 200 WHP in the near future, have no worries.
Turbocharing the V6 Delta RIGHT (intercooler) is a very difficult proposition. The transverse mounting of the V6 means that the rear 3 cylinders are near the firewall...routing those exhaust gases to a turbo is not going to be easy. Then routing the charge pipes up to the front of the car for a Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) is not going to be easy... then running the pipes back to the TB is not going to be easy.
A setup similar to this
With an Air/water intercooler is "doable", but wouldn't be what I would consider "ideal".
Until the Delta V6 proves itself to be capable of more than 250 WHP without flying apart into schrapnel, I'd say stick with the Alpine SC and upcoming upgradings. Once someone figures out how to keep the delta in one piece above 250 WHP...then it's time to consider turbo's.

Thanks Random. I pretty much had my mind made up but you pressed me over the edge. I just needed one person with credibility to tell me that. The Area 51/Airwerks turbo is really not a very good example though, it still has holes. Until they find out the correct pipings it will stay an all-show car (the turbo is still in the begining phases...I checked smile.gif ). And also is that 250 hp number including or excluding nitrous? For instance if I'm near 225 hp and i add a 50 shot of nitrous will that be safe? I know the aluminum head is to conserve weight but it created a lot of stur and they should think about a future change.
off_topi Don't you think it's funny that my first post got 49 replys. Good or bad I got a controvercial post...think about it.
P.S. Relic: I know a little bit more than lingo. 7 yrs and 4,000 miles on 912 ponies later I've learned a few things. No replacement for displacement, no flame intended.

off_topi sorry but this is a reply to something stated to me....hollow I DO remember someone asking for pics of 1.a timeslip for the 9 second monster 2.a dyno backing 912HP 3.a picture of your *** so we can see where you are pulling these magic numbers from. Sorry if that heads toward flame but i've seen a LOT of numbers in his post and no proof. I respect EACH and EVERY person that has posted a TRUE timeslip or dyno. Anyhow on topic GOOD LUCK to anyone supercharging a new tiburon. I think they look good and honestly when i finish up buying extras for my 1st gen tibby im thinking 2004 tiburon or.... sorry to say it but maybe a dakota R/T 5.9 just cause they sound so good.
The R/T is tight but seriously, This computer is 9 yrs old and the only reason i get online is to read the posts. It took me 20 min. to get this far, I'll have the pics when I get a digital camera. I'm leaning towards a new comp. too so I'll try to show them in around 2weeks, until then hold off. No flame duders. Oh yeah, I'm with you turbulence 5.0 Mustangs suck!!! What I'm talking about are some of the most gorgous machines ever made...'60's muscle cars. You can't appreciate new cars until you appreciate their ancestors. Just hate those new POS's that come out trying to be muscle cars (specifically the Mustang, although i do like the new stang LS). But can someone answer my HP question????? dunno

No, I would not reccomend a 50 shot of nitrous if you are already at the 225 WHP mark on the V6 Delta. Not unless you can afford to risk your motor. You might survive one use, I doubt if it will survive at roughly 260 WHP for long.
