F350 Turbo Install
#1
Well a few guys from Richard Petty's shop in NC knew that I was intrested in finding some turbos. I was really looking for something out of a TSi or GSX, but they want to try to install a f350 Garrett turbo with the gsx fuel pump, Greddy BOV, and aftermarket IC. I think I am going to stay around 5 psi while im in school and turn it up a little in the spring.
Let me know if you guys think this is a good idea..or if it will even work at all
Thanks

isnt that a fairly large turbo? im not sure on which one they use. Im going to look it up today in class (in class for Fords) Dont want to go to big, especially with only 5 psi, it could be hard to flow enough through it

So I would need to boost it up a little...I figured I might...I will just have to get some injectors and fuel rail now.
Who can I get the dual rail from, and is it a direct bolt on? I heard some people talking about putting mustage injectors in...from the GT I would guess? That would be great if I could do that since you can pick mustang parts up in the junkyard pretty easy.

dont use a f350 turbo they are way to large. The fords and chevy are v8's and use a larger turbo also the f350 uses a reverse scroll turbo. If you insist on a desil turbo use a dodge cummins AUTO only holset hY35 the hx is to laggy. I am currently using the hy and it spools around 3500. you can still pick them up pretty cheep to around 200$ and they are good for around 500whp. The internal wastegate is at 18 psi so if you plan on using that build a motor. Oh and i do the dual fuel rail setups if you are interested.

why are they insistant on using a huge turbo like that? Are they just trying to pick up a used turbo because your better off going new.
Why dont you go with a new Garrett? The T3's spool quick and are good for a decent amount of whp. Or you can Try something like a T3/T4 with a ball bearing center section for a quick spool and higher numbers

for a small 1.8 litre to 2.00 litre engine.
Large turbos are very laggy and designed for drag races, suitable for v6, v8 cars.
I've got a garrett gt3076r its the size of a small volleyball and it almost touches the radiator.

older ford with the 7.3 had a t3/t4
the only thing that would need attention is the exhaust housing..
it's a .82 AR you would need to change it to a .63 or .48 if you want no lag
if you're keeping the stokc bottom end why not simply usea plain T3 (48/60 )
it spolls quite fast, it's big enough to push around 300whp and doesn't cost much
it also gives you more space to play with
for the extra injectors spacers, yes i have them, we just made a new batch..
only the fuel rails needs to be finished, the "special" extrusions just came in a few days ago
btw, i could do a GB on those again if we get enough peoples in it
