I would like to know what some of the turbo guys on this fourm think about this.

I am trying to figure out if this will allow me to hold more boost

My current turbo setup is
Log Style Manifold
T3 Super 60/interal wastegate(6psi)
TurboXS HP boost controller
2.5" downpipe Manderal Bends/2.5" crushed bends exhaust

I would like to be able to hold 18-20 psi.

With my current setup the car will boost up to 20 psi but falls right back to 15 psi. Would adding a external wastegate allow me to hold more boost to redline? With a Full 3" downpipe/exhaust manderal bends

This is an idea of where I would have to locate the wastegate. Probable not on a bend just straight but this is main idea

Whats your thoughts?

It could be a restrictive exhaust thats causing it. Either way, going with an external wastegate should cure it.
I would also ditch the log style ince you're redoing everything else.

I had planned on using the CNK tubular manifold but I wont be able to now. So I am considering using my Log manifold seeing how there is not a huge selection of tubular manifolds available for us.

I'm getting rid of my old setup real soon. It's kind of a semi-log setup with external WG.

cool but its not much sense buying another log manifold when i coul just use mine and weld the externla gate on that.

Maybe you could find one of those mounting spacers that goes between the manifold and the turbo.

Yea I have thought about that but it would not be that hard to just weld on the external gate to the manifold.(the flange, I KNOW YOU DONT WELD THE WASTEGATE TO THE MANIFOLD lmao.gif

With a .48 exhaust side on the turbo is the turbo just choking up with the higher boost levels?

Or is the 6 psi wastegate acuator just not strong enough to hold 18 psi?

Maybe a stronger more psi wastegate would hold the 18-20 psi????

thoughts?

Exactly Gary.... the problem is that the wastegate actuator is not tighten strongly so it can support the 18PSI.... give like three turns to the screw. But remember that you will also raise the base Boost PSI...

I am using a internal wastegate I cannot adjust it. I can purchase a 18 psi acuator from ATP turbo. I am just trying to figure out if this is problem(wastegate) or is the turbo runnig out of steam?
