Can't really compare the two engines. The mitsu was a FWD layout whereas the GC is RWD so there will be more room. Plus the 3.3L Lambda engine has a Timing Chain va a belt so no major service for a loooong while. Most I've had to do to my wife's 3.3 after 90k miles, in her Santa Fe was replace the serpentine belt and tensioner.

Rather have the V8.
And it's not maintenance that made those Mitsu motors shitty to work on. It was sh*t tunes that they ran detonating everything in sight. Same can be said for every turbo platform ever. You may not have a major service interval till 90k but you can still blow it the f*ck up at 5k
