hey guys I just wanna ask all the ones who tuned their engines out there.
while boosting 13-14 psi before on the dyno, I was hearing knock/ detonation on my engine. the AFR was reading about low to mid 14s at this time. is this normal for an engine to knock at these #s? this was done at about 4 - 5k rpm and im running forged low-comp pistons (about 150 psi on compression gauge). smile.gif

'tol, you should aim for a richer tune 14.xx AFR's are too lean, so you'll knock even if you are have lower the compression and using higher octane fuel...
it depends on what octane you are running but the general rule is don't go anywhere richer than 12.1 AFR since you actually lose power

yeah.....
would def. get the car into the 12.0-12.5 range.. i kept my car at aroudn 11.8-12.0 at WOT since it was street tuned and i didn't wanna risk anything. losing a few hp over risking my engine was ok in my book.

14.xx is dangerous on a turbo car
for a street car i shoot for about 11.5
to get most power out i shoot for about 12 - 12.5 (depending on the rpm range)

ohh i see... i just wanna eliminate the chances of the knock coming from a too high compression ratio... dont worry i kept it in safe 12-ish afrs at WOT.. that's why it's just boosting 11 psi at the moment... whew at least i dont have to spend a fortune fing02.gif
anyway thanks you guys, you've all been really a big help in my build. next stop custom intake manifold for secondary injectors!!!! lmao.gif my friend quoted me US$500(you know how labor can get cheap here in Philippines) for an aluminum manifold like this one (he fabricated this for a single cam, three stage vtec honda civic turbo engine)
i plan on using stock primaries and 440cc as secondaries

you dont need 440 just use 550 and 255 in tank or 750 and 255 intank... no one in korea uses secoundary injectors as for afr at full load stay within 11.3 no higer then 12.3 and make sure you use cold plugs 8~10 eather HKS super fire racing or Greddy racing plugs...

What kind of tuning systems do you use there in korea? I see Motec systems a lot in Korean cars. I'm currently using a Perfect Power SMT-6 as a tuning module. I've reached my MAP limit in my car, that's why I'm running lean. I guess making the injectors a bit larger would definitely help but I'm targeting 20 psi hopefully.
