Engine Managment.
What unit is best proven for the least amount of money?
Both Ignition & Fuel...
Better to get two stand alone piggies ( SAFC & MSD )
Or Uni, or of course whole new brain?
Microtech-8, Haltech etc...

It really depends on your state of mind.
To me, the only PROVEN (as in durability on the track/rally) is a stand along engine management system. Haltec, Motec, PacTel, etc.. You don't see any "race" cars using the stock ECU and a S-AFC.
However, there are MANY different cars out there putting down respectable HP figures and have been for quite some time, using just a S-AFC and other similar add ons.
The "mid grade" ECU's (Apexi's FMC, AEM's EMS, etc) are sort of the grey area. They have enough functionality to be a 'race' setup, and are easy enough to be used on the street.
A S-AFC and MSD programmable DIS-2 give you about 75% of the functionality of a Haltec E6K, for about 75% of the price ($800 vs $1200). For about the same $800-$1200, you could also pick up the unit from AEM, or Apexi.
In the end, the true stand alone's ability to accept fuel injectors of ANY size and it's ability to grow with your engine, to me, make it the 'only' choice if you plan on going over about 300 WHP. If you just want "more" power, and plan on keeping things below 300 WHP...then the above 2 items should fit the bill.

Thanks Random. Yes I'll be well below 300hp, I doubt the Alpha motor can even put that down without extreme modifications. Still looking to keep my street car, every day driver. wink
So with that said, I'll start looking into Apexi an MSD, thanks again!
