I took a look at the automatic RD Tibby on Modifiedcars.com and under the mods it has listed "Electonic turbo". I noticed that the estimated 0-60 time was flat 8 so I assume that the gains aren't too extreme, however wouldn't this be a lot safer to install? Any information on this would be highly appreciated. ^___^

In the year that we live in, and with efficiencies as they are, an electric turbo will yield no gains whatsoever.

Lol never said anything about getting one, I was just curious about them. Thus far I already know that there are no gains, and that it's a waste.tongue.gif

Maybe five-ten years down the line from now they're might be gains to had from them. Basically it tries to use an electrical power source to compress the air (a regular turbo uses heat to compress air). As it stands now, they aren't efficient enough to produce power that would overcome the restriction it makes.

Its trying to make a battery create the same power as the heat in the exhaust makes. The heat in the Beta exhaust is probably about 140 wasted horsepower... and most regular turbos are around 80% efficicent. So they have more energy to work with and are more efficient.

I am going to lock this before REDZ has a stroke from seeing this topic active here.. but in a nut shell, there is no electic compressor capable of producing the amount of airflow and pressure needed to make boost on any car and still be small enough and efficent enough to actually fit in the car.

Sorry, it is just a case of "there is one born every minute"
