Hey, there's some guys who are apparently making progress on reflashing the ECU for our cars (maybe beta II?). Does this make any sence to anyone? It looks like they started making progress, but the last post was mid-January.
I've never delt with ECU flashing or timing maps. I've got my elmscan computer hookup en-route and I would like to learn. My buddy says he's got a cable "that can reflash the ECU of ANY car". Would this be enough hardware?
I am familiar with programming, reading binary and hexidecimal. I'd be able to dedicate a bunch of time to this. Someone guide me please?

DTN if you want to dedicate time to it, go for it.
but from what I understand, the ROM on the ECU is encrypted, so its not just a matter of editing hex code.
But check out that openecu site. they seem to have lots of information to get you started.
