How much do the NOS and ZEX kits cost and is it best left to a pro to do it. Reason is I am looking to go dry and spray in the CAI. This should work right? Also is nitrous street legal in the US? Or is it considered a HAZMAT item being how flammable it is?

Nitrous is 100% inert out of the bottle. You could take a bottle, open it full tilt and "blow it" all over a campfire and never do anything to yourself... Except for likely putting the fire OUT.

Nitrous only becomes flammable when you compress it under heat -- the gasseous N02 becomes seperate nitrogen and oxygen gas (N and O2). Only oxygen gas is flammable, the nitrogen serves as a "buffer" of sorts.

In a lot of states you can have a bottle, you can have all the "plumbing" but actually having it connected is illegal. Some states do not care, some states probably wouldn't even know to look et al...

I wouldn't try it in California wink.gif

The nitro should be where you get the cooling effect and the o2 is the flammable part. Ah ha, it makes sense and something I should have remembered from those chemistry classes. Thanks Red! Do you or anyone else know what the prices may be for a nice kit? I'll have to shop around and see, but a ballpark figure would be nice. Thanks again.

Nice what Kit? Supercharger or Nitrous?

Zex kits go as low as $500. Venom kits start at about $1200.

It all depends on what you are looking for.

Um? No...

Superchargers are not "nice" to your car, or any nicer than nitrous is. In fact, for the money, a proper nitrous setup is a better alternative than a supercharger.

Please do not make dumb blanket statements about things you don't understand.

Engines require three things: Fuel, Air, Spark. If you PROPERLY install and tune a 100HP nitrous kit, a 100HP supercharger kit, and a 100HP turbocharger kit, the nitrous car will A: get better quarter mile times, B: have better driveability, C: cost less and D: will get STOCK gas mileage.

The only reason Nitrous causes so many problems is because idiots install the kits wrong, or think that it doesn't need any tuning, or think they can increase the nitrous dosage without changing their fuel systems.

The ONLY negative side of nitrous is that you have to refill the bottles.

Hey Zorro,

What size belts are you using on your blower, and how did you get the supercharger to stop throwing your belts off???

Thanks,
Tave
