I am trying to make the most of my alpine supercharger kit as I have already spent shit loads of money on it. I was thinking of replacing the M45 supercharger with an M62.
What I wanted to know was, would the discharge area be the same for both? e.g would it be a direct replacement on the alpine inlet manifold?

I posted a topic on this - do a search.
Look at your manifold and look at the pictures of the M62s. I doubt it will be a direct replacement, but it is definitelly doable.

Chances are the M62 will be wider.

the M62 has a larger opening because it is moving more air. Roots style Superchargers do not make boost in their housing, they simply push a LOT of air into your intake, where it builds up pressure and makes boost.
I would go with the M62 over putting a smaller pulley on the M45. Spin a roots compressor too fast and all it does is make heat. The larger M62 will push more air at the same RPMs than the M45.. this making more boost without the heat
