Default Do you need an intercooler if you're under 8 psi?

Theres a chance I may end up turning down the boost on my car to either 8 psi or even possibly 6, until I get my other engine finished up with new internals. My neighbor is turboing his civic and asked if I would sell him my intercooler. Im going to need a bigger one once my engine build up is finished, so I was thinking about taking my current IC out, selling it to my neighbor and just run 6-8psi without one. Is it an ok decision or should I leave the IC in place until its time to drop in the new engine with the bigger turbo and front mount?

I'll leave the definitive answer to those who know 100% for sure, but I'm going to say you will be okay as long as you don't end up with detonation. Turn it down, try it without the IC, and see how it runs. A re-tune may be necessary.
