Understandable. I always saw nitrous as ricey, because of it's easy in install, quick HP, and potential for trouble.
It's not too bad. Nitrous are quick boosts of power, while turbos will always be spooling up anytime you run above 2500 hp.
If you don't want a tranny swap, then nitrous would be your best bet.
As for the Auto Tranny, the differential and torque converter eat up power and are weak points for failure.
