Has anyone measured any of the cams that you've recieved? Especially if they're regrinds?
The Z community is having horrible results from different companies doing regrinds. They don't turn out to be what was stated, and in some cases, every lobe is different.
And no, you won't "feel" it in the car.
I would check them.

Virtually no lope? It lopes, that's enough for me. I'm not building a drag car here, and these ARE street grinds. They've done me very well so far, and I love em. I just want to fix the fueling issues now.
I never compared it to SR's 268's, did I? No offense taken, they aren't the same cam, so of course they won't sound the same. Remember, this is on an OTHERWISE stock head.
Yes and no on the IM, it's the one Tim makes.
I'm the only one with these as of now that I know of Jon, no, I didn't measure anything, I think this was before I got my calipers.
Yes, every lobe is different on these, well, not really. They do the Tri Flow thing on their cams, you can read up about it at ColtCams if you want.
And yes, I do "FEEL" the difference in the car. My wife did, I did, my son does, everyone that helped with the install did, even Tibbytib, who's always chasing me up the Sandia Mountains said he noted the difference.
This is all on the stock exhaust still too.
Soon I'll be picking up another head since the one I have is missing almost everything, to get it P&P'd and maybe the oversized valves and some new springs and such, build it up, swap these cams in it, and pop it over late this year o early next year.
BTW, one reminder, I'm just the first RD with these, Bill (BHurlin) and Geoff have been doing these for some time for the Kia guys, whom seem to love them.
BTW, we are looking for someone with a standalone system at a normal altitude to get a set of these.
We can offer you my stock cams as a core, which I can send direct, you just pay for shipping, and BHurlin may offer them at COST if you agree to do before and after dynos.

Sounds like your cams aren't that wild, or they are dialed in pretty well.
No offense intended whatsoever, but those don't have nearly as much lope as the sr 268's that I am running. However I also have a ported head, combustion chamber/bowl work and larger valves and they definately got lopier after that. Maybe one day I will get a vid of the exhaust if I can, if I set my timing back to zero on both cams the lope is INSANE, although the car has NO power then, lol. But it sounds crazy haha.
Hey redz, did you get your IM ported? I see the tig welded plate and was wondering?

My whole post was talking about the companies that screw up regrinds. I was talking about that when I mentioned "feeling" a cam that's not to the exact specs.
Several people in the Z community have cams that weren't to the specs that were advertised. But of course, they're not gonna know the difference when it's in the car. They'll feel the difference from their stock cam, and assume it's what they ordered. It could be half the duration and you'd never know.
I'm just stating that you should always check over their work. (I'm not talking specifically about the company you got them from)

There are also 3 people at this moment that opened their valve covers to find the lobes flaking off from bad layering. So you should also check them after 1k miles, then again after about 10k. Look for black spots and chipping.
Wouldnt any tuning be enough? I mean why standalone specifically? Im hoping to have mine up and going as soon as its warmer than 0 degrees here. But knowing how its been so far Im sure it wont work. I am probably going to run a set of these with my built beta 2.

Yes, I'm sorry, I meant any standalone/piggyback other than the SAFCII.
I see where you are coming from.
You did check out the pics I put up of these right?
