Breaking in a turbo?
My friend who is looking at gettin an STI was told that he needs to drive it under 4000 rpm's for 1000 miles to break the turbo in. Ive never heard of this, has anyone else? Would I need to do this if I got a turbo installed? If anyone has a turbo or im sure Tim would know, please feel free to respond.

About breaking the turbo itself in, i dont know. But i know your told to keep the RPMs down in any new car for like the first couple hundred miles.
My dad just bought a new Tacoma and they told him for the first 50 hours keep it below 4000rpms.

Of course, its the same as when you buy a new car you keep it relatively easy on it until everything gets a chance to settle. 1000 miles might be too much, I usually do 500, same process as with a clutch. If hes buying it new, I wouldn't push it until after 2000-3000 miles.

How exactly do you pre-oil and when you say take it easy, does that mean you can run full throttle at a low boost like 5 psi or just stay off the throttle all together?

Errr... you take a syringe thingey, fill it with oil, and insert it in the reservoir... just don't overfill it.
I would try to avoid full throttle boost... even if your only running 5PSI your still putting pressure on the wastegate.
