A hammer drill will do it, or you can grab a hammer and a nail or a chisel and give it a small whack. That little dent will keep the bit from going all over the place.
A spring loaded center punch will work too.
We used a hammer drill on mine, and then switched back to the regular drill and it went right through. There are MANY OEM grommet and rubber sealed areas you can cut a hole in and just pass the line through.

Thanks, I will pick up a chisel tomorrow and dent before drilling. Where exactly did you drill yours? I am thinking either to the left of the throttle cable, or to the right of the clutch cylinder.
I couldn't find any easily accessible grommets on the driver's side of the firewall, plus a vacuum line is fairly thick..

I'd use a punch, not a chisel. or just a good nail.
I've got a wire going through the rubber seal for the steering wheel at one point. Mine was up high somewhere.

I would not put the "filter" in the line before the FIC. It needs to see any manifold pressure changes as quickly as possible to make proper fueling adjustments. Put the "filter" after the "T" in the line going to your boost gauge.

u can use the grommet for the steering column i used it to run my power wire for the stereo through it so you should be able to bring it in that way. if not just cut a small opening where the shifter cable grommet is. thats a huge square grommet with pleanty of extra space.
