Boost Leak?

Default Boost Leak?

I had read alot of threads mentioning boost leak, but none of the threads explain what it is. how will i know if i have a boost leak? I just got my tib turbo'd not too long ago so Im still learning slowly about this stuff.

your leaking boost from somewhere



youll know when you have to crank it up more to make power



sorta like a vacuum leak....but with boost

i definitely would have done the research beforehand.. haha you should start researching a ton of common turbo terms and problems now, so you dont think its the end of the world when you come across one.



boost leak is pretty simple.. its.. LEAKING BOOST!!! HAHA



usually from a loose coupler or if you have any fittings installed in your piping that aren't sealed. boost leaks can also happen from crappy intercoolers that have cracked end tanks or bad welds that leak air.



you can do a pressure test of the system with a DIY boost leak tester (google it) and an air compressor or some type of electric pump.
