Unfortunately the shop will not be replacing the motor as this place is not a licensed garage. He is mainly into building off-road jeeps. And yes this guy has an extremely good reputation.

It was an honest mistake apparently the boost controller was in the area of the p/s so it had to removed while installing and when he put it back on he mixed up the vacuum lines sad.gif

He pulled out of the garage and onto the highway which is only down the road from the shop shifted threw the gears lightly until he hit 4th then jammed the throttle next thing he knew the motor just made a big noise glanced at the boost guage then coasted to the side of the road. It happened too fast for him to react. And yes he has a wideband.

As for no block guard there are tons of guys making excess of 400whp without them now on the right tune. But yes open deck sucks. New block will be sleeved he says.

As for me the Haltech has a Boost cut feature. Which is turned on fing02.gif

oh and the head is ruined aswell. Not sure about rods/crank yet

Those open deck blocks don't stand up to heat/detonation as well as ours

This is an open deck block of a honda engine

This is viper966's beautifully built beta block, which is closed deck

The difference is easily noticed, the open deck has a large gap inbetween the cylinder walls and the rest of the block for the water jacket, ours has coolant passages which creates a solid cylinder wall.

yah, you got it, bryan put 13:1 compression pistons in his turbo car  lmao.gif joke.gif

look like low comps to me mang, got the dish to them but you wouldnt really be able to differentiate them unless you had stocks or high comps right next to them at the same angle.

dont worry about it though, bryan knows what hes doing. fing02.gif

^^^He was talking about the Integra car at the top.

They don't look like really low compression pistons. Maybe 9:1 at best. And Gary, you said that the best gas you can get up there is 91 octane. That motor had everything against it.

^^ 94 octane available here at least in Toronto, not sure about Newfoundland though

get the shop to pay for the damages! it's really their fault, not your friends...
