did he install with two gaskets? One on each side of the decompression plate?

Also, do you need longer headbolts with the plate?

As Mad-Machine said.... I think that you will need two gaskets... one for each side of the dec. plate..

BTW.. check for wierd noises inside the engine.... hope the water don't make any damage.... I dont think so... but you better check...

Did he use new head bolts, our cars use a special head bolt that should be replaced every time the head is taken off.

"Stretch to yeild" is the term. You take them to a specific torque and then give them another quarter or half turn.. and it literally stretches the bolt to give you the proper mounting pressure for the head. You CANNOT reuse them.

^^^I'm with him. They can be reused.
There is also a proper sequence to tighten them in. Inside -->Out, and diagonally.

He either didn't tighten them down enough, tightened them down in the wrong sequence, or the head is warped really bad.
