I got a custom mandrel-bent 2.5" exhaust with a high-flow cat and muffler all installed for $500. They also removed my resonator. Figure 150 for the cat, 120 for the muffler, they only charged me 220 for the piping and install. The exhaust is all welded except where the header pipe bolts to the front of the piping. I got it done at mighty muffler in Elkton, MD. I know it seems like a bad place, but they did a decent job on mine. There is a slight buzz at around 4000rpm but I think it is because of the removed resonator. Didn't throw a CEL or anything. Although I think the 2.5 was too big, it will be good for when I get around to turboing it. Only took them about 3-4 hours. Just thought I would mention it. I believe you can get 3" pipe at no extra cost. Good luck. By the way, this exhaust was on my 97 1.8L tib.

Apexi doesn't make exhausts kits for our cars.

What I did was to get the universal Apex-i N1 exhaust muffler and had my shop mandrel bend me a custom exhaust.

With the partial titanium exhaust piping, the mandrel bends, and the muffler, it only put a $500 dent in my pocket.

wow you guys get some cheap exhaust prices...

ive been searching for an exhaust for my 03 elantra, so when it is turbo'd in a couple months, i have a bigger exhaust...

what i would LOVE is to have a 2.5" mandrel bent, aluminized steel, from the DP back...seeing how no one around here has a mandrel bending machine, i was looking into 3" crush bent...i can buy mandrel bent piping from jegs, but i dont want my exhaust to look sloppy and have welds everywhere, and it would cost A LOT!

As it should not take long for a place to make an exhaust.. I would call around outside your immediate area and see if you can arrange a day when you can show up at 7am or whenever the shop opens and let them have the car all day.

Ok so we know whats best performance wise, but what about sound? I found a guy that can do custom exhaust for me (2.5 mandrel bent SS). Now the turbo is supposed to deaden about 1/3 of the sound, so to keep a low almost stock, but somewhat more aggresive sound, what is the best set-up?

1) turbo------hi-flow cat-----maganaflow muffler?
2) turbo------hi-flow cat-----glasspack muffler-----crap'o straight through muffler?
3) ?????

Speed factor said he is working on an exhaust, that is what I am going to get when I get the turbo

I would have turbo -magnafolw -pipe back so it is almost sleeper(looks anyways)
