Any 400+ horsepower cars driving around?
Excluding the Genesis Coupe because they can be built to handle 400 horses pretty easily, are there any originally NA crooked H's driving around with 400 horses or more?
|
There were several 300whp rd's. There's probably only 3 that have gotten to 400 in the states and they weren't daily drivers.
|
On a stock bottom end at 25 PSI & E85 I made 426/399 at the wheels.
I'm now on a build bottom end and 25-31 PSI so well over 400 hp at the wheels. It's definitely not a daily driver anymore lol, but it sure is fun to drive. Why do you ask? |
I think the twin engine Dragon Fab tib had over 400 horses, but then again... it did have TWO engines! :P
|
I have a Beta Swapped Accent X3 with about 495 WHP with Pauter Rods, Wiseco HD pistons, 93 octane and water meth injection, SDS EFI and a PT6265 at 29 PSI.
The only reason why I don't use it every day its because it does not have AC. |
TibbyTib has my old engine that can handle 800whp, does that count? ;)

Only if you ever crack 400whp does it count! And in case your wondering I did crack 400whp...I just don't have the proof.. :(

Here is my dyno graph with STD correction and smoothing of 4. Ambient temp was 71 Fahrenheit with humidity around the 40% range:
https://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k...psius2mldf.png This was with a stock bottom end on 25 PSI of boost on E85 fuel. My 870cc injectors were at 100% duty cycle and I'm sure the walbro 255 was nearing its limit also... |
Have a larger image? Can't really read it.

I tried uploading a larger image from my photobucket but the forum website won't let me do it. Here is a link to the image instead: Dyno Graph |
This is one of my Accents (one NA and one Turbo both Beta swapped)

^^^ Do you have a build thread with more details?
|
I didn't build this one, I bought it from a fiend that had it under a tree for about 8 months after he bought and had it tuned.
I have almost all the information, any questions just ask. |
What fuel pump and feed line size?
Stock cams? Stock head? What size throttle body? Is that a custom made intake plenum? What ECU? |
What fuel pump and feed line size? Walbro 255 the lines are bigger but do not know the exact size.
Stock cams? Yes Stock head? Yes What size throttle body? 90mm (I think its to big, I plan to test with a smaller one) Is that a custom made intake plenum? Yes, a ebay intake manifold for an Mitsubishi Evo (I have a AIRRAM that will test also) What ECU? SDS EFI EM-4 (www.sdsefi.com) and Water/Meth injection system (www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com) |
that's a very nice and steady AFR.
|
You PR guys like running 'em lean... Unless that's on E85.
|
There is no E85 available in out pumps, that is 93 oct with 10% Ethanol and water/meth injection.
And yes we do, my NA car has 160 HP is running at 13.3 AFR. |
Bigger stones (or fatter wallet) than me. I shoot for 11.7:1 on 91 octane. 12.2:1 on 100 octane.
|
That Accent must've been slipping big time on the Dyno rollers. Torque is all over the place!
|
Thanks for the info. You've got to be pretty close to the Walbro's limit. A 67mm throttle body is good for 700-800whp. I'm sure the 90mm makes it hard to drive at low throttle.
As I've suspected before: This proves that you don't need a $1500 built head to make 500whp!!! However, I'm still installing a set of $80 valve springs in case of valve float. |
Ohh wait, I forgot!
I do have OEm 4G63 valve springs, they measure about 12 lb more on our heads. if you don't trust then go with aftermarket, Crower are about $90. Engendro has only Ferrea valve springs and retainers, video for reference. |
That's exactly what I bought. 4g63 springs from Crower. Paid $83.58 shipped.
The bigger question is what is he using for a transmission? |
I'm using stock X3 tranny and waiting for it to explode, Engendro uses a 2001 RD2 modified automatic transmission.
|
Juanra,
What clutch are you using that holds that much torque?? |
I has a 4 puck solid center ACT clutch and a custom made twin diaphragm pressure plate made of two Exedy Daikin.
Have in mine that I have a X3 tranny and that it is push not pull. The car does not have good tires and it there is no traction there is no clutch slip. |
Did Exedy make that custom plate for you? Or did a local shop?
|
A local shop did it. They ask you to take the fly wheel, the clutch and two pressure plates.
They dismantle both, use both diaphragms on one body and cut the surface of the plate to fit. |
I don't know of anyone who would do that here. :(
|
In Puerto Rico we have a bunch of crazy mechanics and machinist!
|
Don't forget all the mechanics over there drink pure C16 race fuel!! ;)
|
Actually I prefer Q16!
|
The problem I'm finding over here is that all the shops are now getting to the point where they won't do small work or custom jobs, either because of liability, or they're too busy to do it. They want to make quick money by selling you 100+ units, and have "minimum set up charges".
|
I've seen that problem before, I have friend that send things here to have them custom made because of that.

What did you tune your car with?
Haltech E6X. It's an old standalone (2003), but does the job ok. |
