ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww lol
id go with evo 6+ before i would ever do anything like that..
or just go with the treadstone setup like my kits have laugh.gif
not to mention, no filter on the turbo = very bad idea..
also, do i see like a 400$ MSD- DIS system, but a turbo/manifold setup like that.. sad.gif
also that manifolds turbo flange is closer to the center than the oem one he has. (from what i can tell anyway

totally agree ... and yes, the dsm stock flange is normally in front of cyl #2, so that would put the turbo even more toward the alt.
IMO, better do it right the first time!

/\/\/\ It was a fairly hasty decision, but I stick by it tongue.gif
So, progress has been fairly non-existent due to below freezing temperatures and no garage door 02.gif
I got the bumper off and managed to mock-up some of the intercooler piping, but it looks like I won't have the kit on before it goes to the body shop on the 16th.
As for the alternator/down-pipe problem some of you have brought up, I don't think this will be a problem because this is how the turbo's going to be mounted\/\/\/

The down-pipe is actually going to be on the other side.
I'd like to mount the turbo like this because I'm pretty sure I could make the d-pipe clear the alt. \/\/\/

but as you can see the j-pipe would hit the manifold then\/\/\/

Which REALLY sucks because with the cold side of the turbo on the passenger side I'm going to have to remove the power-steering sad.gif
This was the one thing I was worried about besides some of the ebay parts. One of my friends knows SAFCs really well and he keeps telling me he can tune it for me. On the other hand, everybody on the forum is always talking about how they are so hard to tune tibs with... The SMT-6 sounds interesting but I don't know much about it other than it's a piggyback. How do you input values into it? just plug it into a computer?
And I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on all the ebay parts I have in the kit. I'm kinda broke after the big buying spree but I'll start replacing the important ones(FPR, lines and fittings, sandwich plate) as soon as I have some money.
Also, I just got the rest of the parts in today so here are pics.
electronic oil pressure gauge, SRT-4 OEM boost gauge, AEM UEGO wideband, universal triple gauge pillar\/\/\/

Mustang 440cc green top injectors(I think they're OEM???)\/\/\/

ebay j-pipe\/\/\/

ebay return line and fittings\/\/\/

Thank you so much for all the well-wishes guys!!! fing02.gif

Sounds like your off to a good start. Only mis-step would be the AFC. You will not be able to get a good forced inducted tune with that thing. I'd recommend a SMT-6 or a AEM FIC. I happen to have a new SMT-6 sitting in my garage waiting for a buyer.. hint, hint.

looks good ... also, be sure to have a Beta exhaust manifold gasket to check the ports on that DSM manifold, they won't line up perfectly and will need some grinding!!!
so good luck with everything, looks like you know where you're going! fing02.gif
BTW, the OEM turbo placement on those manifold is like you show in your first pic : cold side towards the left.

What if you just got a spacer for between the turbo and manifold so the turbo sits lower....
Maby it would clear and you could keep it that way and not loose power steering?

yeah.. haha.gif haha.gif
you would prob be better off using a treadstone manifold than a old 1g manifold (prone to eventually cracking) and prob better off using an ebay turbo than the old 1G turbo.
with the tuning, like people said, SAFC isn't gonna do much for you. ECU will fight it, correct itself, and then you will be running lean conditions.
your best tuning bet is the FIC, hands down.
after you upgrade everything (FPR, turbo after it konks out, manifold after it cracks, etc) it woulda been cheaper to buy a kit from me, or piece out a kit with new, non ebay stuff.

Dude honestly I wish you the best. But a couple things... First, I would never put any ebay part on my car, especially on important parts of this build. Second, I think you rushed into this without doing enough research. You obviously have the jist of this you just don't have a thorough understanding. I would put this project on hiatus for a little and make sure everything right... AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MONEY FOR THE UNEXPECTED!!! I remember you saying that you are broke now, well that's no time to go FI. Third, IIRC you are a college student, I pray that this is not your DD, and if it is then I pray to god you live on campus. Because, from glancing over this thread I can only foresee A LOT of downtime.
Honestly, this is something this should of had been done under the philosophy of building it right the first time. Initial cost is a little higher but long term cost/rewards will pay for themselves. Also, I don't want to come off as an ass or anything of that sort, I just want to open your eyes a little and hopefully you can reaffirm to yourself that this is a wise move.
