Alpine Turbo 1/4 mile times (Gtech)
Hey guys I did a bunch of runs tonight with my Gtech. I have found the Gtech has to be pretty accurate as with my Tib stock I would average in the 16.3 sec range with a best of 16.12. As far as I know this sounds about right for a 2001 Tib with a 5 speed. Sure they aren't track times but gives you an idea of the difference my turbo kit has made in performance.
Now keep in mind I am still using the stock clutch which won't hold full throttle in 4th and 5th gear. Shifting between gears is not very agressive as I do not want to burn out my clutch before I decide on which clutch to upgrade to. Any suggestions on this?? Also I still have the stock rims and crappy Michelin tires (spinorama in first gear!)
OK what you all have been waiting for:
My first few runs were all in the 15.4-15.2 range. After learning when to feather the gas (still learning) times went 15.19.....15.08.....14.91!!!! WooHoo broke 14 secs!! I can manage to average right on 15secs now.
First gear is very tricky, launch around 2500 (with some wheel spin) once rolling full throttle for less than a second then back off to half throttle because boost quickly overcomes the tires grip. Keep the throttle at half to redline, shift to 2nd throttle back to half to avoid traction loss until about 4500 rpm than full throttle to redline. Shift to third, slowly feathering gas to 100% to avoid clutch slip........Damn I need a better clutch.
Well you get the idea, just excited with my new toy!!!

Nice what kinda rims? I was going to get some 16" Konig Zieges...but they discontinued the model...CRAZY! I loved the look of em..now I have to find another brand with similar looking ones...found some from Tenzo R but hell no...about 100$ more for the same design basically, and heavier...

Actually i had some Supra 712's but i have found a much grippier tire with superior dry traction AND a cheaper price!get some Kumho ECSTA Supra 712s...shave .2-.3 off or maybe more with stock 15s...try....

Get some Hankook Ventus HR II's. Even though it's traction rating is an "A" compared to a "AA" for the supra 712's, that rating only applies to wet breaking. The hankook grip so much better and launch the car much much much better than the supra 712's. It was like $75 bucks too for a 205/40/R17. It also has a better tread wear rating too. Check'em out when you can. I have some and love them better than the supra 712's!!

Hey Cuda Turbo..
It's not that I want to be a jerk and burst your bubble, its more so that you dont get in trouble shooting off ur mouth at hondas.. but low 16's for stock tiburons here at Race City park is a bit too low... latest gen Preludes have problems breaking below 16 seconds.
I personally ran very high and consistent 18's myself in a stock auto.
Just warning you so you know what to expect at the track.
Of course, that was last year I didnt see any other tiburons except me running.
I hope the auto doesnt suck THAT much!
Our altitude 4000' ASL really slows us down.
I'd be REALLY glad if you proved me wrong tho!!

I wasn't gonna post my results but.... I can almost duplicate Cuda Turbo's results exactly! My best run was 14.96 / 97 MPH.My first few runs were all in the 15.4-15.2 range. cuda - you're right 1st gear is awefully quick! I am also experiencing clutch slippage on my stock clutch.
Second and third gear is really quite fun...
Oh and I'm not sure it matters but I used a G-Tech Pro.
