Kinda cheap considering it comes with rods also... ? Im just a little confused. Im not used to pistons AND rods being anywhere near 300$ .. o well lol, are they good quality?

 

I thought they would of been 1.8 rods and pistons, but they do not lower compression to that ratio.

 

Well Im just wondering if they are strong enough for daily use, especially if you get on the throttle quite a bit lol

 

Yeah those will hold daily use no problem, with the low cr you will see a slight loss on the bottom rpm range.

 

i think those ARE the 1.8L rod/piston combo. and koreans use them all the time.. maybe the real ratio is 7.7:1 and not 8.1:1 like we thought.. those are stock hyundai rods/pistons, and like i said koreans use them for their boost setups all the time. but, if i was to get low compression pistons, that would be way too low for me.

i would want 9:1 so i wouldnt have to push as much psi on turbo to hit the same whp. and i would be beating on the turbo as much.

 

yeah, if those are the actual 1.8 piston/rods... so the new compression will be now the low 7.7:1 and not on the 8.?:1's?

i just hope that we get real facts on the compression ratio... anyone? anyone who know someone who has done this? south korean guys? mad_john? bluetree? kspec?

 

yah, that would be nice to know, thats why these are such a good option for boost, and people can push high psi, cuz it drops the compression UBER low.. i could only imagine putting that combo i with no boost ROTFL.. it would make the tib like a 70whp car.. awwww, the civics could keep up. lmao.gif

what i want to know, is there any car out there besides the VW that has same pistons dimensions as us (CNK, i believe used to sell VW pistons in their low comp. piston set) which would make our cars closer to 9:1 compression, that we could get OEM and alot cheaper than weiscos.

because, i know i will not need forged pistons, and would rather find a totalled :insert car here: and rip out the pistons for 100$ and throw em in, and have a safe, boost friendly 9:1 compression. i just want my compression higher than 7.7:1 and would like it higher than 8.5:1 but lower than 10.3:1 so it can be a little more friendly to what i am going to throw at it..

i would have thought about that SCE gasket, but o-ringing the head, the sealers, and all the labor, plus the ~95$ for the gasket, wouldnt be worth it in the end..

forged pistons are much much stronger.
