I understand that building a motor once is a nice thing to do but some people dont want to or have the cash to do so. I personaly am building a motor up from scratch and will take me about 6 months to do so. I WAS JUST MAKING A POSSIBLEY OTHER OPTION AVAILABLE. Personaly I would feel much safer running a set of mitsu rods at 400 whp than a set of stock hyundai rods.

I was just seeing if there was possibley a demand if there was I would prototype them but seems everyone wants to bash the free thinker.

Secondly the 2nd gen mitsu AFTERMARKET EAGLE rods is an easy way to save 400$ esspecialy if you dont have your pistons and you plan on getting your crank refinished. And this is going to hold well past 500whp.

Dont bash the free thinker as we are the ones who come up with ideas like turbos and superchargers, 4 valve engines, overhead cams ect ect ect.

I am at 347 with 20lbs, wouldn't take hardly anything to get it up past 400. I have Pauter rods and Weisco's in there. This could very well be a possibility for Redz and I after I move to New Mexico in the spring. Get a low milage motor from the yard, throw on all my stuff and go at it. I'm not that much of a monkey wrench but I know with Redz and Socks we shouldn't have an issue.

We're not bashing free thinking, but were throwing a little common sense in there.

If your going to go through the trouble of tearing the engine apart to replace rods, you might as well put ones in there that actually have a significantly higher breaking point than using rods that MIGHT have an extra 25 or 50 security ponies,if the mitsus were a direct swap with total part cost in between 0-50 bucks then sure.

or if the mitsus were fine up till 500-550whp then it would be a viable alternative, but when your talking about a pretty similar rod that you have to go through the trouble of replacing anyway, it doesnt make a ton of sense.

If it does to you, then thats ok too, but we're just letting you know why everyone else wouldnt pounce on it.

t4, we are just trying to help you not make a mistake. People don't want to invest money into maybes, and especially when it's going onto your baby. It's just not going to happen man. No one is bashing you for free thinking. That and there is two people on these forums as of now to touch the limits of where stock rods end. Soon there will be three. It takes a lot of time, money, and work to get there and no one really wants to screw up their perfect setup, done right, by throwing used rods in that aren't even for the vehicle... If someone handed you a pill and said "I think this is tylenol, it may be cyanide, but I'm pretty sure it's tylenol..." Would you take the pill? This is what you are basically saying in car terms... I'll tell you what. Go build a 450hp turbo engine, with those rods, and if/when it works, you can say I told you so and call me an asshole. But as of now, it doesn't sound like a good plan. People with good solid kits don't go cheap. Plus by the time you are nearing 450hp, $300 extra for rods is a joke...
