350 Whp In Need Of A Clutch
currently i have a spec stage 3 and its slipping needless to say. im thinking of either going to the stage 5 with would hold 480 ft/lb (supposively) or going to the clutchnet that i see some people using. its not daily driven so i dont care about drivabilty. any feedback? and whats the part number for the clutchnet because i see one thats for strictly race but its only like 100 and some bucks
I would talk to Denis and get his clutch conversion. Even with a Clutchmasters clutch 350whp should hold. Tim from TurboElements was running that on his 1.8l Elantra before the engine went.

I haven't used it but I'd recommend something like the 6 puck act clutch to get it taken care of. But if I was were you are I think I'd be looking into the clutch conversion like eric is talking about. I think denis was working on that for us. I'll be going that route if I ever have to change clutches.

in the stock style clutch i would go with the act 4 pucts and their pressure plate
if you want to go push style, i have a few kits available that will let you use a clutch from a non-turbo dsm
i think ACT has some rated up to about 425 lbs/torque
or you could use a turbo dsm clutch but you will have to modify the flywheel

I have the clutchmasters stage 4 6 puck sprung hub and around 300 whp with absolutely NO problems. I can spin 225's through second gear posi. The clutch grabs like a mother f-er when you want it to and it is still rather smooth at low speed city driving.
Although if you are planning on getting really serious you might want to go all out and do the turbo dsm clutch conversion with Denis's help.
So Tim was running his 11 second passes in the elantra @ 422 whp with the same clutch I have? That's good to know because I'm shooting for 500 whp once I build the bottom end.

^^Props to that. As written before in other threads I have Clutchmasters FX400 4 puck clutch and I have no problems. Grabs as hell and as Tdonnel says it is quite smooth in a slow city driving despite being 4 puck. It is rated as theirs Stage 4 clutch and as far as I know it is their top of the range for the Tiburons
+1 on clutchmasters clutch holding like a M'fer. i never pushed any 'real' power, but for a week or so i was pushing 11-12 psi in my tib with the clutchmasters and no issues..
a lil rough for city driving cuz of the engagement, but its the price you pay for performance.
and a couple weeks later the clutch exploded and sent one of the pucs thru the housing of my transmission. owned.gif but i believe that was caused by something else.
