ok after all that info I think i need a todo list to keep it all straight

1. Install pump, fans, get gauges in place and oil pressure working.

2. fix dp and make charge pipes.

3. install turbo stuff and get it up and running via fmu. (this will work on like 5 psi without a piggyback right?)

4. decide on piggyback system or ecu swap. right now it seems like either an smt6 with a spacer and extra injectors or the ecu + high output injectors from re are my best options.

does anyone know at what boost level you have to get more than the fmu? and btw if i do go with one of the two options in 4 does the fmu need to be removed?

WellÂ*... 5-6psi would be safe with an FMU, I guess. Some poeple swear by them, too; my friend's turbo Accent is running bigger injectors with just an FMU and some "hacks" (bigger MAF, modified idle valve, etc) at around 20psi, and it's been that way for 2 years. Once you get it just right, it can work; but it's usually a long long process to get there, and failure-prone.

You wouldn't need the FMU for either option in #4 (both solutions are there to control fuel in place of the FMU), so you'd better just take it off and sell it when you'll be ready.

btw, thanks to everyone else as well!! wink1.gif

...sorry got a few more
1. what have you guys done for the vent coming off of the valve cover that normally runs into the elbow? just venting it out?

2. do you have any pics of where you tapped into vacuum? (i'll need to hook that up to the fmu and bov right?)

I was looking at your pics on your site, as far as the breather do you just have one of those small breathers that looks like a filter at the end of the hose?

I'll be awaiting the pics!! thanks fing02.gif

if you're using the FMU i would tap the vacuum line at the OEM fuel pressure regulator
it's also a good idea not to tap the BOV on any fuel regulator, the piston in most BOV have plenty of movement so it will have a slight influence on the fuel pressure

again for the fuel department, the smt6 + spacer will work nice and keep your car obd2,i'm sure you could get a standalone system to work perfectly in every conditions (load, boost, vacuum, cruise, accel, decel, air temp, engine temp....) but it will take a lot of time to get it perfect in every aspects and you might get some problems with your local smog station

it' up to you,but i'd say that in your case the smt6 + our spacer will work nice and will be more tuner friendly

i also need to find out where i'm supposed to be hooking up my oil pressure gauge. sad.gif

yup your right..
if you use the FMU "T" it with the stock regulator
and plug your BOV vacuum else where ( the nipple for the heather and A/C on the rear of the intake manifold)
