Default Transmission Swap: Tucson ?

anyone consider a Tucson gear box swap? with the 2.0 engine swap, and the super high final drive of the Tucson transmission it would make for one crazy accelerating tranny. a 3.66 final drive versus the Tucson 4.63 findal drive... 1st-3rd close to the same but Tucson slightly taller on all gears, fourth gear is still better acceleration from 75MPH-90MPH. Accent 0.69 vs Tucson 7.1

am i on crack or is there a reason the Tucson 2.0 FWD tranny wont work on a 2.0 Accent swap?

i am new to hyundai and plan on putting in a 2.0 into a accent....

It should physically work.

Shifting at 6250 rpms with 205/40/16 tires:

LC 1.6l:
1: 0-30
2: 30-53
3: 53-79
4: 79-106
5: 106-131
65 mph cruise = 3100rpm

Tucson 2.0l:
1: 0-25
2: 25-37
3: 37-69
4: 69-87
5: 87-112
65 mph cruise = 3613rpm

The problem with gearing down a final drive vs. a close ratio transmission is that drivability suffers. First gear will be all but useless. Second will be a better ratio to start in and probably give you quicker times with a Beta in an Accent than starting in first would. Third-fifth would be a great improvement over the LC transmission unless you wanted to exceed 112mph or cruise at 70+mph on the highway for very far.

That would be a pretty unique swap. If you do it, definitely let us know how it went and what headaches you have. I'm sure alot of Beta Swap Accent owners will be interested in your findings with it.
