1. Anything is possible with enough money

2. Will it cost you more money than its worth? YES!

3. Will it take an incredible amount of time, R&D, and fabrication? YES!

4. Do most people fail miserably when trying to do something like this? YES!

5. Could you just build a FWD monster with a huge turbo and built engine for less than the cost of going AWD? YES!

Yep, it's pretty simple:

1. Build a full tube chassis

2. Find the desire drivetrain and suspension

3. Fabricate the bell housing to mate the motor, suspension brackets, motor/trans and diff mounts, etc.

4. Use the original Tib body as a shell

5. Sit back an gawk at your track-only money pit

There is plenty of info around the web and here on several awd converts, including a Gk with a Tuscon crap, a shittly assembled twin motor RD, some RD => evo drivetrain swaps, and my personal favorite the betswapped awd drag accent using a G2 rear.

So that's this week's obligatory awd Tib thread

??

What Visionz is hinting at is it's been asked SO many times, and none of these sorts of threads ever result in a conversion.

when i have the time and money to do it i want to swap the powertrain from a WRX into an RD. i love the look of the tibs but the engine and drivetrain from the wrx. even doing all the work yourself you're lookin at 15k in materials. then you have to consider suspension geometry, drive axle angles and lengths, hubs and in turn - brakes, struts, springs. it's more than just out with the old and in with the new.

It's a lot easier than you might think if you have the skill. 15K! WTF! This guy did it for $5500 CDN. (same idea)
