short shifter
I'm gonna be ordering the shark racing short shifter in the next week (have to wait for payday) wink.gif and I was wondering what exactly is going to be involved in the set up..will my stock shifter knob still fit and what about the leather? Do I have to cut that? Thanks!

You do not have to cut your shift boot, and the stock knob will still fit.
I have an install Guide, that is not posted yet, but will hopefully be up before Sunday.
www.speedstate.com also has a good install guide.

There used to be a good install guide on FXtreme, but I guess that's in the bit-bucket now. I used that when I installed mine. If I find it at home this weekend I'll retype it (I printed it out).
Here's my addendum to it:
http://www.fxtreme.org/Ultimate/NonCGI/For...TML/001507.html
Basically, you remove cables, remove lower mounting bolts, and pull the whole assembly out. Then you can take the moving pieces apart. Pay close attention to how they all go together.
Also check out www.hmaservice.com they have some cool pics of the shifter assembly (exploded view) which helps immensely.
Then you replace the two "arms" and reassemble. You will have to dremel/jigsaw out a big chunk of the middle where the new one will rub.
Not the best picture, but here are all the pieces. You can kinda see the hole I jigsawed out. http://www.geocities.com/acurtas/ss_parts.jpg
Best of luck. If I find those instructions, I'll repost them.
later,
AC

Random-thanks for the info, u da man!! I was reading somewhere or another that you have to fold more of the boot or something to make it fit right?
AC-lots of detailed info!! UR awesome I think *crossing fingers* that the installation will be cool, I was just wondering about the leather and the shift knob.

Okay, some more help (if you don't have it in there already yet). I dug up a printout of Chris H's (owner of FXtreme) install guide and put it on my site. I'm guessing it was lost in one of the crashes last year. Anyway, I retyped it and added my own commentary here and there.
there, that should cover it.
Here's the link: http://www.geocities.com/acurtas/SS_install.html
The rest of my car stuff can be linked through my sig.
