as reluctant i should be when starting a new post..i've been doing some searching and have little showing details about shifter base bushings for the RD/J2 cars.



my 16 year old j2 has considerable base movement and the vinyl coated spring and plastic snap tabs are worn out,

I looked around to see if any aftermarket caters to the rd/j2 cars and no Dice..TWM do make stuff for our hyundai's with the ball pivot shifter assembly but not the bracket and shaft type shifter assembly's,



I looked at jafromobile's video about shifter tech and noticed that dsm shifters look nearly identical to ours,

so i'm wondering if anyone has metal shifter base bushings for a dsm that could possibly fit the rd/j2 cars.



also..i"m thinking of compiling a parts list for a shifter rebuild kit, new vinyl coated spring, plastic tabs, bolt, nuts, washers, collars, shims, and if going for the whole ball of wax, the shifter cables themselves.



if anyone has any useful info..feel free to contribute

 

the plastic bushings can be replaced by skateboard bushings



the rest is reusable including the spring
