Default Red, Random... Drag Transmissions?

Well,

Like I expected someone asking about a drag tranny for the tibby. Besides Quaife, does anyone else make sequential drag trannys for FWD?

I don't have enough experience with the aftermarket tranny companies, so I thought I would ask.

Also on the Ross pistons, which part number is that. Looks like a couple of the shops want to see if they can get cheaper pistons than Wiesco.

Thanks,

Cheuk

I know that no one makes a tranny for the Beta... but the guys are willing to have one custom built. Just looking for a company that builds them for any FWD applications.

I told them around $11K for a custom Quaife unit and they were still interested.

These guys are CRAZY... When you have to sell your house to build your race car.... you NEED to find another hobby like needlepoint. smile.gif

Hehe, Random you linked to my post about the Crower rods, not the Ross pistons

Cheuk: Ross Racing here in the states doesn't have a part number for the Tiburon pistons, mostly because they still aren't in high demand to warrant keeping pistons on the shelf. However, they already have all the proper specifications and measurements. All that a potential customer needs to do is contact Ross Racing USA and ask to speak with Darius (pronounced Der-I-us). He can make you a set of stock replacement, 0.020-over or 0.040-over pistons in probably any compression ratio you want from 9:1 down to like 7:1. They also increase the ringland thickness and radial depth over what the stock rings would normally use (if you want them to)

Production time on the pistons and rings is right at two weeks, so it isn't a horrible delay like what you might expect for having "custom" pistons made. Price is $550 USD for the pistons, rings, floating pins and spiralocks and also shipping within the US. Of course, since you will be shipping to Korea, the shipping price will be a tad higher wink

Oh oops, and as for "ambiguous" drag transmissions, I haven't the first clue. Quaife would be the only place I'd know to ask, as every other place I know makes trannies for specific cars (ie WRX's and other Subies)

*laugh*...sorry, shoulda warned you about that. I looked into that about a year ago.

The only other custom tranny I know of for the beta is the all wheel drive tranny/driveline conversion that Libra uses on the Rally tibbies.

I surf around and see if I can find some custom tranny sites and see if I can get a cheaper price quote than Quaife.

I am waiting for them to get back to me about a price quote for straight cut gears / diff / driveshaft without all the other stuff. Hopefully they can get it down to a reasonable price.

It pisses me off how cheap they sell a clutchless system for a Ford Focus... around $5500 but I guess quantity makes up their profit margins.
