How does everyone hold their shifter?
I know theres a few different ways to shift, so I was wondering which way everyone uses. Hand on top of the shifknob, or hand from the side of the shiftknob, or do you grab the shaft and shift? (hahaha I said shaft)

Usually hand on the top of the shift knob. I'll frequently hold it between my thumb and forefinger too (open hand, palm down, make a fist, stick your thumb out to the left. I'll hold it in that open gap between my thumb and bent forefinger. Other fingers don't matter at that point either.) When I had an aluminum shift knob, in the summer I would gingerly hold it with just the pads of my thumb and forefinger, and shift as quickly as possible. Or I'd shift with just one finger to avoid the heat.
My shift boot is degrading over time and so I can't grab the shaft.

Casually driving.. I usually just move it with the tips of my fingers. Now, if I'm feeling frisky with my gas pedal I'll hold the top of the knob with my thumb, wrap my hand around the side.

Hand over the top, just holding with the pads of my fingers. Except for the 1-2 shift. My transmission hates me enough that it takes some real force now lol.

The same regular style of palming the knob itself.
Occasionally, on the 4-3 downshift, I'll ease it into gear with the tips of my index, middle, and ring finger with my palm facing upwards. Like releasing a lawn bowl.

All different ways... When I'm just putting along, I'll just go with fingertips, or I do this weird thing where I flip my hand and my pinky is on top with thumb down, and my palm is facing away from me. Aggressive driving gets the full wrap...either hand on top, or on the side.
