Default Clutch Slip at high speeds

I noticed trying to keep up with Jon in his v6 I was running about 110mph and I got the smell of my clutch slipping.

I assume this is just the weak ass stock clutch.

I also noticed this ina few accents.

Am I correct?

How do you smell burnt clutch at 110 MPH? Your car could burn through a quart of oil at that speed and you would barely leave a trail of smoke thanks to the wind speed/volume going by...

I smelled it going in through the vents, which were open to the outside air.

If you dont think its the clutch. then what could it be and why would it only smell like at 98+mph

And I have noticed it in other hyundais. Accents. I have not been in another tiburon at the high speed, well except the v6.. tongue.gif

Have driven my tibby 130-135 or so and smelled nothing different. Also...if your clutch were slipping I "believe" your tach would go up in rpms but you wouldn't speed up, not sure if that's true or not however. Theres a test for slippage but I don't remember what it is.

I think I get that sometimes too. The occasional odd burning smell after I don't do something quite right on a shift, anywhere 60+. I'm always afraid that the oil has all leaked out on me, I've had a car do that before, not fun.

However, I've also noticing that it's slipping a bit when launching lately, so I'm just waiting to burn through this unit before I replace it. I'm not even very hard on my clutch either, I never race anyone but myself. It just doesn't seem to hold up all that well.
