Default Bahnhof Stage 3 Clutch Kit? Ebay

Ran across this on ebay, I'm diving into the trans in two weeks to put in a lightweight flywheel. Wasn't planning on changing out the clutch because there aren't any problems, its a stage 2 xtd or clutchmasters. I happened to run across this and figured not to shabby on price and while I'm in the trans maybe just change it out if it's worth it.

XTD with a different name? BTW unless they changed something recently XTDs pressure plate = stock + paint.

I always wondered about XTD because if felt stock after the install. Figured it would be a tougher pedal press and it really isn't at all, feels like stock so I can see that. Sadly they pass it off as some high end clutch when it's just stock with paint.

The clutch itself isn't stock (unless you get their stage 1), the PP is + paint.

It is a modified stock PP, on our test bench the stage 3 was around 175ftlbs heavier on clamping pressure over stock. But it is a Valeo unit, So there doing somethingto them.

Odd, the re-builder we had check it against a stock unit said it was identical after testing and screwing with them. The only reason I had a chance to give them two to look at was horrific luck on the part of a friend of mine... o.0 Ever see a broken starter take out a clutch? (long story) I have... but not on my ride. The rebuilder that did look at them had a hell of a reputation for building clutchs, pps, modifying flywheels, etc. So I didn't have any reason to doubt him until your post. That and using the simplest answer being the correct one. Dirt cheap clutch kit company is actually modifying the pressure plate AND making a custom disc work OR they make a disc and paint a stock PP. Its still a damn good price for a clutch kit even if it is painted :-/

That is a pic of the not many miles XTD coming out thanks to the starter compared to the brand new one going in (not the one that was sent back) The PP compared was one with light mileage as well, thanks to an exploded trans.

The clutch itself took most of the damage from the metal that caused us to yank that one. The PP just had a hotspot on it and the owner of the car didn't want to chance reusing it.

Hot spot

(unless the limited use the PP saw and the damage that was done made it test very simular to stock.. ??)

BONUS

Me trolling HP.com asking why my clutch wasn't disengaging after the install. That pic was uploaded with a few more to try and find the problem. They never figured it out.
