Default 1000hp Axles for Tiburons/Elantras

Now available from Insane Shafts are 500hp and 1000hp axles! When I first contacted Mike, he had a lot of information for our vehicle, but didn't want to rely on some conflicting catalog information to build them. So I sent in a factory set. He offers a 500 and 1000hp option. Total cost for the 1khp was about $900, plus having to ship off a factory set to him. I can't guarantee that he won't require the same from you. He also requires a month or so build time. The 500hp option is about half the price, so it may be a better option for most of you.

I went with Insane Shafts because my Honda friends highly recommended them, and Mike really did turn out to be a great guy. The Driveshaft Shop also has a good reputation, however for this level of horsepower, they require using their own hubs and a LOT more money. They didn't have as great customer service. I'm not sure that the factory hubs (spline) would become a problem. So I didn't want to rely on DSS so much if something went wrong.

So give Mike a call. Like I said, he was great to work with.

I remember Raphael from back in the FxTreme days, and early days of HA being one of the only people who ever snapped their axle at the drag strip. He was using some pretty darn sticky slicks though so I'm sure that helped break them.

Sweet, thanks for the information and setting up yet another original set of parts for our cars!

Since I don't have ABS and therefore don't require the toothed rings, I expect to get a discount!

Did you get these installed yet? Any noise/vibration issues? Turning is good as well?

I suspect he put those on regardless. I didn't tell him I had ABS, and I don't.

I've installed them, but haven't been able to drive the car due to oil leak issues. Currently, the oil pan is off.

Can he do anything for GK owners or are these just for RDs?

Yes, shoot him an email. He will probably request that you send him a set identical to yours. The GK has a two piece passenger axle, so it will most likely cost you more.
