this is why you don't buy 17's on an RD. there's not enough rim wall for a 45 size tire. if i were to go back in time i'd have bought 16's. i hit it going about 40mph. there was a huge slam. there's no crack just the edge is bent. can this be hammered or clamped back in place or do i need to get a new rim?

it can be sent to a rim repair shop but truthfully it would probably be cheaper if you can buy just one of the same rims, brand new.

The same thing happened to one of my rims, but mine were off-brand and I couldn't buy them except in a set.

I agree with UrSONvS though, It will probably be cheaper and easier to buy a replacement.

 

buy a replacement, or try to mash it back in place.. heat it up and hit it with a hammer LOL.. its not as easy to do as it might sound, and itll never look perfect.. those rims are only like 120-140 a piece, just buy one. use that as a full size spare.

and any rim is gonna get bent hitting a pothole at 40.. has nothing to do with being 17s..

 

that makes me feel better. the total cost of a replacement is $187.00 shipped from Cali. gah. and i was going to buy those poly bushings...

the pothole was shuge man. i didn't even see it at night. it could really have been and felt like an open manhole or drainage it was that huge. total mystery to me, it wasn't there before. good thing is the tire is just fine, it didn't blow out or bubble, no air came out at all. i was even about to go a different route but my damn balls of steel told me to go the shorter route.

 

^^ for sure, one time I hit a big pot hole with the stock wheels going ~15 and destroyed the tire and bent the wheel a little.

I'd torch and rubber mallet it. Then order a replacement.
