exactly what i was thinking. my friend has a torch and a rubber mallet. i'll stop by tomorrow. lay it flat down and strike it from the side. they are good quality, and it already feels like it won't be very easy.
question is if you torch it so hot how can you hit it with a rubber mallet?

Very common thing here in Colorado. I even bent one of my forged rims, damn roads here. I got it back pretty close by using a 5 lb sledge hammer, a 2 x2, and leather wrapped around the end of the 2 x 2 that comes in contact with the rim. Let all the air out of the tire and go at it. Really lay in to it! Its gonna take a while. Realize though that you will be weakening the metal there. You may have problems in the future with that rim. BEST scenario is simply ordering a new rim and see if the city or county will pay for it.

Same thing happened to me... Up in northern Ontario we have major road problems because the ground heaves from the frost in the ground. My ex hit one with my parents car and did the same thing. I was told that it is covered by the city, so we put in a claim, still haven't heard anything from them, but who knows. Can't hurt to try.

i still would go with a rim repair specialist if you really want to keep just for safety reasons. but, in the end Adam, make sure you get the rim and tire assembly rebalanced or even checked to see if it will balance out.
