Heya Everyone,

I'm running stock RD2 Rims, so the 15"x6" (i think its 6" have not actually checked).

I'm looking to get new tires, and was thinking of getting 205/55s i know the width on those is 8.1" and I'm not sure if it will fit my rim? Or the largest that will fit stock Rims? Current Tires are 195/55s

I couldn't find anything in this forum to help me figure that out, might be an experience thing (which I lack) on how much you can squeeze the bottoms on the tire onto the rims. Also considered upgrading the size to a 17" but budget is an issue right now, any suggestions on awesome deals (tire/wheels or both) shipping to Canada are appreciated.

Thanks All
Shad

So I guess that would be a 205/55/17"and our stock tires are 195/55/15".The first # is the width of the tire in millimeters.the second # is the percentage in height vs width,in this case 55% or about 100 mm.and of course 15"or 17"is the rim size.your new tire will be 10mm wider, but your side wall heightwill now be about 105mm and your 17" rim will add 1" of height both from the ground to the center hub and from the center hub into the wheel well. Most 17"
wheels here are 105/40/17"s.This is IMO the right size wheel for the Tib.Larrs

I use 205/50R15 tires, and have done so for over 4 years no problem. Last I looked, they're cheaper than the 195/55's stock.

79.00 is the cheapest for 195/55's on discouttire.com, and it's 63.00 for the least expensive 205/50. As a matter of fact, I like the Hankook ventus HRII. They grip really well for what I use them for, and never gave me any problems at all. And they're really quiet on the highway, unlike my old Nitto's.

Sorry Larrs, maybe i wasn't clear, I meant, I want 205/55s on 15x6" (If they fit)
Possibly 205/40s on 17x7" if I get an exceptional deal.

AGreen, you have those on an RD2? because the RD1s are 15x6.5" i think? so 0.5" more.

Thanks again guys, really appreciate it.

I think the stock wheels are 15x6,5"

My stock tires are 205/50/15, so they'll fit just fine!!
If you go with 16" get some 205/45
With 17" go with 205/40 or 215/35 cool.gif

i could be wrong but you want to keep the tires the same proportion to keep the speedometer reading correctly. thats why 205/50 are suggested and not 205/55 because those might throw off the speedometer or something like that

tirerack.com says a 205/55/15 tire can use a wheel rim 5.5 to 7.5 inches wide:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?mak...um%3D055VR5GFSP

i live in toronto and i've bought a lot of tires from tirerack.com. if you buy the wheels as well, they mount and balance the tires for free. that's worth at least $15-20/tire. they use UPS shipping which is usually a PITA for canadians because of the customs brokerage fee, but tirerack takes care of all that.

i once received a wonky tire that was WAY out of balance. they shipped another one as soon as i called them.

Yeah, you just have to keep the new tire diameter as close as possible from stock. Don't go over 2% diff, or you'll start having some speedo diffs!
There are lots of tire size calculators on the web, here's a good one http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
Like I said, car came from dealership with 205/50/15 stock tires and rims! Dunno if US tibbys are diff from european ones, but that's what we get here.
