205/55/15 will fit, my girlfriend bought continental contiextreme contact's in that size on her '00 tib with stock wheels

no rubbing, no issues at all with it. she really wanted those particular tires, and that was the smallest size they came in, speedo isn't noticeably off, 1.1 mph @ 60 mph

it actually rides quite a bit better now, not sure if it's the tires, the larger size, or a combo of both, and i think it looks a little better, fills out the wheelwell a bit more

yes, 205/55R15 will fit, but as was mentioned by DaaFisch, the 205/55 will be a taller tire, therefore messing with your speedometer. Stock size is actually 195/55R15. I own a 1999 RD1 fx, btw. It makes sense, that if you use the same aspect ratio, and go with a wider tire (i.e. 205, vice 195) you'll have a taller tire. However, if you drop one size ratio, you'll have a wider tire, with no change to the speedometer.
